Payout Rules (Event Athlete Fund)

These rules explain how Race Purse payouts are determined for each event.

1. Results source (the "source of truth")

Payouts are based on the official event results published by the race organization and its timing provider. If there is any discrepancy, the race organization's final published results control.

2. Eligibility

To receive a payout, an athlete must:

Be listed as an eligible competitor in the event category being funded (e.g., 100k Male / 100k Female), and
Complete Stripe Connect (or other payout) identity verification as required, and
Not be disqualified by the race organization.

3. Payout splits are published in advance

Each event page displays the payout split (e.g., Top 3 at 60% / 25% / 15%). The split shown on the event page at the time contributions are collected is the split used for payout.

4. When payouts are initiated

Payouts are typically initiated within 5 business days after:

Official results are posted, and
Any event-level disputes/protests are resolved.

5. Ties, disqualifications, and adjustments

Ties: If two athletes tie for a placing, the combined amount for the affected placings is split evenly among the tied athletes unless the race organization publishes a different tie-breaking rule for that event.

Disqualifications: If an athlete is disqualified, payout eligibility passes to the next eligible finisher.

Result corrections: If official results are corrected after payout initiation, Race Purse will follow the corrected results to the extent feasible. In some cases, full reversals may not be possible.

6. Unclaimed / failed payouts

If an athlete does not complete payout setup within 30 days of notification, Race Purse may (at its discretion) reissue the payout to the next eligible finisher, hold funds until setup is completed, or handle the funds as described on the event page.

7. No guarantee of fund growth

Race Purse does not guarantee any minimum fund total. Total fund depends on contributions and any sponsor match terms shown for the event.
